SIFE Tilburg University officially started in 2007 with a handful of students and has now grown into a team of over 40 people. We are a group of students with very diverse backgrounds in different fields of study at the Tilburg University, located in the southern part of the Netherlands.

We have set the bar high for ourselves this year to accomplish our goals while still having lots of fun being a part of the whole SIFE network nationally and globally.

These are the characteristics we are looking for:

• Proactive, competitive nature
• Enjoys speaking in front of public crowds
• Can work together with a team to deliver high quality presentation
• Knows how to deliver human emotions in presentation
• Has about 2-3 hours to spare every week to rehearse

SIFE Tilburg University is in the process of making this a sustainable project, where the supply of tutors can meet the rising demand, so that no children will be left behind on their journey of education.

We would especially like to thank all the speakers that were every active in the lecture and discussion segment of the evening: Ehsan Turabaz -Honorary Consul Afghanistan, William Genugten-University Professor of International Law, Christa Meindersma -Deputy Director Foreign Affairs HCSS, Sahar Jahish and Sahar Noor, both journalists.

The intermezzo followed with a display of Afghan arts & crafts as well as traditional Afghan costumes while guests were treated to some tasty Afghan snacks prepared by the Afghan restaurant, Sarban located here in Tilburg.

After the break, the movie “Breekbaar Nieuws”  was shown and narrated by Gijs Wanders, a film that allows us to see and hear the stories of everyday life in Afghanistan; stories that go beyond the headlines. It was clear from the film that even with the current strife that the people are going through, it will never dampen the spirits of the Afghan people.
